Here’s a summary of responsibilities:
The United States Olympic &amp; Paralympic Committee (USOPC) is a nonprofit organization and is one of the only National Olympic &amp; Paralympic Committees in the world that does not receive government funding for its Olympic &amp; Paralympic programs, instead relying on the generosity of a committed community of donors and sponsors. Increasing philanthropic support for U.S. athletes is one of the USOPC’s highest strategic priorities and hence, the organization has established the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation (USOPF) as the fundraising organization for the USOPC and is investing significant resources in its Development division.
The Major Gifts team is responsible for generating significant support for Team USA, through facilitating the major gift program in their assigned regional territory. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects (individuals, corporations, foundations) and participating in donor stewardship activities in the Southeast region, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee. Reporting to the Vice President, Major Gifts, the Major Gifts Officer will manage a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects capable of making a gift of $100,000+. Some prospects may have a demonstrated interest in the Olympic and Paralympic Movements and an established giving history to the USOPF, while others will have to be discovered and/or developed.
Here’s how you’ll have an impact:
<ul>
<li>In consultation with the Vice President, Major Gifts, establish an annual operating plan for the assigned region, with measurable performance objectives, that aligns with the USOPC’s fundraising goals and priorities. Participate in assessing progress toward regional objectives and adjust plan as necessary.</li>
<li>Successfully manage a major gift portfolio of approximately 100 prospects to meet agreed-upon philanthropic goals for the region. Engage in activities that focus on donor-centered philanthropy to maximize potential gifts over the long-term. Ensure that all activities are entered in the fundraising database to guarantee the quality of communication and donor records.</li>
<li>In consultation with the prospect development team, identify major gift prospects capable of supporting the USOPF with significant charitable gifts. Cultivate identified prospects via in-person visits, telephone and email communication, and engagement opportunities such as special events.</li>
<li>Solicit prospects for significant charitable gifts to support the vision and mission of the USOPC and USOPF. Partner with the Donor Experience team to steward donors via a variety of communications and experiences, including attendance at the Games.</li>
<li>Engage a network of volunteers to achieve regional and programmatic goals. Work with USOPF Board Members and trustees to effectively assist efforts in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gift prospects.</li>
<li>Liaise with USOPC Sport Performance team and National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to enhance revenue generation from their constituencies and facilitate fundraising support. Inspire confident and trust among NGB colleagues and other members of the Olympic and Paralympic family.</li>
<li>Demonstrate accountability and transparency that is consistent with USOPC expectations as a steward of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements.</li>
<li>Serve as a key fundraising contact for the region. Coordinate and implement special projects and perform other duties as assigned.</li>

Here are the skills and experience you’ll need to be effective:
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience</li>
<li>5+ years of successful fundraising experience in a non-profit environment</li>
<li>Demonstrated effectiveness in cultivating, soliciting, and closing $100,000+ gifts and meeting significant revenue goals with the ability to earn the confidence of a wide range of internal and external constituents</li>
</ul>

<li>Advanced degree preferred</li>
<li>Strong preference for experience working in a development officer role in the Miami area with a keen understanding of the philanthropic culture</li>
<li>Professional experience in a sophisticated development organization preferred</li>
<li>Experience in an athletic environment a plus.</li>

<li>This is a home-based role that may work from anywhere within the U.S., but preferably in the Miami, Florida area.</li>

Pay and Bonus Information
<ul>
<li>Hiring Pay Range: $95,039 – $120,700 per year</li>
<li>This is a full-time, exempt position intended to work 40 hours per week.</li>
<li>Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program at a 20% target. This program is subject to change or elimination by the USOPC at any time at its sole discretion</li>
